With over 19 years of experience as a Quality practitioner, I have been fortunate to have been exposed to a wide variety of different laboratory environments. I have contributed as a front-line laboratorian and quality practitioner in clinical labs, pharmaceutical labs, research labs, and electronics labs. The depth of my laboratory experience includes Quality, Laboratory Safety, Pre-Analytical Management, Hematology, Chemistry, Blood Bank, Microbiology, Serology, Molecular Diagnostics, and Virology. In these roles, I have gained substantial experience being involved with the FDA, College of American Pathologists (CAP), California Department of Public Health (CDPH), the Joint Commission, US Pharmacopoeia, Japanese Pharmacopoeia, European Pharmacopoeia, European Medicines Agency (EMEA), OSHA, and Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI). I also have journalism experience in college and during my military service. My quality journey started in the military and I’ve continued on that journey to the present day. I am a firm believer in quality and its potential to improve every and any process.
I founded the Seeds of Laboratory Quality Magazine due to the many quality projects I’ve undertaken throughout my career and wanting to share with other laboratorians and obtain constructive feedback. There have been many times I’ve looked for benchmarks and precedents to looming problems and could not find a central resource that publishes the many process improvements that occur in laboratories daily around in the world. The Seeds of Laboratory Quality Magazine looks to fill that void. I hope you find it helpful and useful in our journey to optimize processes.

Having graduated with a degree in Human Geography I enjoy delving beyond the superficial layer of an issue in order to understand the whys, whats, and whos involved. With an inquiring mind, I have been led here to the Seeds of Laboratory Quality Magazine where I hope the writing and creative process will enable me to provide a quality resource, gather insights from quality specialists, and encourage constructive discussion. I have experience in website creation, social media marketing, outreach and involvement with volunteer organizations and activities. I’m anticipating the wealth of knowledge that awaits as we embark on this journey together.
